The scholarships are open to singers aged 18-30, or students in full or part time music education. They are ideal for aspiring professional singers wishing to develop their choral singing and sight-reading and as a means of broadening repertoire knowledge.
Scholarships are worth £1000 per season. There will be occasional solo/quartet/semi chorus opportunities, and also a chance for the scholars to receive coaching from the choir’s superb Musical Director.
It is expected that choral scholars will mentor our younger choral apprentices, take an active role with social media for the ensemble, and generally support the endeavours of Bristol Choral Society.
Interested singers are welcome to join us for a trial rehearsal.
If would like to apply please download further information and an application form. Completed forms should be emailed to chair@bristolchoral.co.uk.
I was one of the soprano choral scholars with Bristol Choral Society. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to hone my skills in a professional context with a wonderful ensemble and sing such a wide variety of repertoire including the choral classics, as well as under-performed and lesser-known gems.
I grew up as a clarinettist and sung in choirs for fun for a number of years before I started my singing training in 2018 with Ann Clewlow in Weston-super-Mare. In this time, I have quickly progressed through Grade 8 and ATCL with distinction, and I have recently started working towards my Licentiate of Trinity College London diploma. I enjoyed singing with Bristol Choral Society and Costanzi Consort, as well as being on the dep lists for other choirs in Bristol and Devon.
