Schools Link
Bristol Choral Society actively encourages local children to experience choral singing, both as singers and listeners. The choir has raised about £40,000 from charitable foundations over the past 5 years. This has funded outreach activities in some 20 primary schools, (often culminating in a shared concert with BCS and professional musicians in Bristol's premier concert hall), commissioned new works for adults and children's choirs and paid for singing teachers/choir leaders to work with classes of children.
Currently the choir is co-funding a project with Ashley Down and Sefton Park Primary schools and an experienced singing teacher, Laurie Gethin, has been recruited to work with the pupils and staff.
