Hilary Campbell Conductor
First performed between 1683 and 1689, Dido and Aeneas laid the foundations for English opera. This enchanting work, which has touched the hearts of generations of listeners, recounts the love of Dido, Queen of Carthage, for the Trojan hero Aeneas, and her despair when he abandons her.Throughout the opera, the chorus plays an important role: it participates in the denouement of the action, which it comments on for the audience. Spend the day singing some of those choruses, under the direction of Bristol Choral Society’s Musical Director Hilary Campbell.
Ticket includes score hire and morning refreshments.
Doors open 9.15am.
